Postdoc Position for

NSF PFI-TT: Using “Big Data” Analytics to Empower K-12 Teachers for Instructional Improvement

Job Description

This project is to develop an online platform, Collaborative Learning and Analytics for Global Education (Colleague). The proposed technology uses the latest developments in educational “big data” and machine learning techniques to empower K-12 teachers to efficiently plan high-quality instruction and collaborate in teams. This project is led by a team including expertise in education and data science research, product development and technology transfer, marketing and business strategy, and K-12 educators as end-users and potential customers.

We are recruiting a 50% FTE postdoc position, starting 9/16/2022 or whenever the position is filled, and ending at 6/15/2023. This position may be renewed based on the candidate performance and the availability of funds. Although cannot be guaranteed, interested candidates can also reach out to Dr. Sun to explore the possibility of a full-time (100%) position.

This project will offer opportunities and resources needed to develop this postdoc’s research and entrepreneurial leadership in educational data science and technology. The successful candidate will work with other team members closely on several aspects of projects, including data sciences methods, front-end programming, and market/user research. This postdoc will be able to carry out independent and novel research in an environment that fosters multidisciplinary collaborations. The compensation will be determined according to the NSF standard practices and negotiated with the project PI.

Qualifications

  1. Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident of the United States, per NSF award requirement
  2. Recent Ph.D. graduates and have explicit interests in advancing and/or applying data science to K-12 education
  3. Prior training or experience in data science methods (e.g., NLP, image analysis, database management, recommender system)
  4. Work well in team settings.
