James and Cherry Banks, Django Paris and Mia Tuan

Dr. James A. Banks was a professor at the University of Washington for 50 years. He was the founding director of the Center for Multicultural Education, which was a central location for transformational work in multicultural education and allied fields for 26 years. Dr. Cherry A. Banks was a founding professor at the University of Washington, Bothell and was a leading affiliated faculty member of the Center for Multicultural Education. Both James and Cherry Banks retired in 2018.

The Banks Center for Educational Justice is deeply honored to carry the Banks name and legacy.
