An Earlier Version of a Puppet Theater

Please keep in mind that in order to bring you this production, the children had to identify the essential parts of a puppet show, make a puppet theater, choose or create a story, dictate their version of the story to a teacher, identify the main characters, choose important elements to include in the scenery, paint the scenery, make the puppets, repair the puppets, decorate invitations (well, some), and practice, practice, practice. In addition to this, they had to cooperate, listen, and not change their minds (well, only once or twice). We teachers are proud to present...

Charlottes's Web by Meredith

The little pig (when it was born) was smaller than the other pigs. Fern’s daddy wanted to smash it. Fern told him not to and took the pig for a pet. The pig moved to a barn with lots of other animals. There were ducks, rats, and some lambs. Charlotte lived there, too. Then there was a fair. There was another pig at the fair. It won a medal. Charlotte died at the fair and her babies got the pigs for friends and played together. The End.

Here are the Might Ducks. They are playing hockey (skating and making shots). Then they save people (general noise). And they chase the bad people away. There is a big fight (fighting sounds). They go back to their Mighty Ship. The End.

Bear's Tail by Scott

One cold day, Mr. Bear woke up and he was very hungry. At that time, Mr. Bear had a big bush tail. He saw Mrs. Fox with a big, juicy fish. "That looks good. How did you catch it? The river is all frozen." said Bear. Mrs. Fox said slyly, " I made a small hole in the ice and stuck my tail down. When I felt a pinch, I knew I had a fish. If you want more than one fish, wait for more pinches." Mr. Bear was delighted. He went to the river, made a small hole in the ice, and put his tail in the water. Soon he felt a pinch, but he wanted lots of fish, so he waited longer. Soon Bear decided he had caught enough fish. He started to pull, but his tail wouldn’t budge. He looked over his shoulders and saw it was ice pinching his tail, not fish. "Oh, No!" he cried. He pulled and pulled until - SNAP - off broke his long, bushy tail, leaving only a short stump. And that is why Mr. Bear has such a short tail. The End.

Prince: Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair, so I may climb the golden stair.
