Zoom Video Conferencing

The University of Washington supports video and web conferencing services through Zoom.us.  There are free and Pro versions of the service.  The free UW Zoom Basic account provides conferencing services for up to 40 minutes long for up to 100 attendees. The discounted yearly PRO account allows unlimited meeting duration and other functional improvements for a $48/year fee. Login your free account using your UW NetID.

If you need to use a room at Miller Hall for your ZOOM meeting, please contact the front desk at Office of Student Services for room availability and scheduling at 206-543-7834 PRIOR to request

Versions of ZOOM

If this is your first time using Zoom, read below to determine what type of account will work best for you.

Personal (free)

  • Available to all current Faculty, staff, and students of the university. Sign up here with your UW NetID and password. Need a walkthrough? The Technology Center can help
  • 40 minute time limit per meeting
  • 100 seat meeting capacity

Pro (additional cost)

  • The Technology Center has several Pro accounts that can be reserved by CoE faculty and staff.  Contact COE Technology Center for Zoom account login information
  • Need to moderate or record your meeting? Don’t forget to get the login information from the Help Desk!
  • No time limit
  • 100 seat meeting capacity
  • Want your own Pro ZOOM account? Voting faculty and sponsored staff can contact the college’s help desk to get a Pro account (new Zoom Procurement Policy). Other faculty and staff can contact UW IT and fill in the appropriate information here: https://itconnect.uw.edu/service/zoom-video-conferencing/

Zoom Pro at the Technology Center

Do you need temporary access to a Zoom Pro Account? The COE Technology Center has three accounts available for checkout to faculty and staff. Follow these instructions to set up your reservation:

  • If you need to use a room at Miller Hall for your ZOOM meeting, first please contact the front desk at Office of Student Services for room availability and scheduling at 206-543-7834
  • Contact the Help Desk to with date and time needed for Pro Zoom account
  • If you need additional equipment such as standalone laptop, webcam or microphone, please inform the Technology Center in the ticket or email request.
  • Download the Zoom application if using your own laptop, sign in on zoom website using account credentials provided by Tech Center and “Start” meeting as host *Required to allow local recording of meeting*
  • Distribute the meeting invite to your participants
