Employees and retirees will lose the ability to sign in to the UW Canvas LMS when they separate from the UW, <a href=\"https:\/\/itconnect.uw.edu\/security\/uw-netids\/about-uw-netids\/expiration\/\">in parallel with other IT services<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Note<\/span>: Because <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">access to Panopto uses the Canvas sign-in<\/span>, Panopto users \u2014 including those who want to view recordings \u2014 will also be impacted by the Canvas access policy.<\/p>\n<h3>Who will be impacted by this change<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Separating employees and retirees lose access when they leave the University.<\/li>\n<li>People with sponsored UW NetIDs, such as guest instructors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Who will <span style=\"font-style: italic;\">not<\/span> be impacted by this change, and continue to have access to Canvas<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Any faculty member who has an academic appointment in Workday.<\/li>\n<li>Current instructors, faculty, staff, and students.<\/li>\n<li>New and returning employees (will be able to access Canvas on their official start date.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itconnect.uw.edu\/learn\/tools\/canvas\/canvas-policies\/timeline\/\">Review details about who has access to Canvas and for how long<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>What you need to do<\/h3>\n<p>If you support any of the above groups, please:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"margin-left: .375in; direction: ltr; unicode-bidi: embed; margin-top: 0in; margin-bottom: 0in;\" type=\"disc\">\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; vertical-align: middle;\">Add information about employee and retiree loss of access to the Canvas LMS to any offboarding information or separation checklist that you maintain.<\/li>\n<li style=\"margin-top: 0; margin-bottom: 0; vertical-align: middle;\">This access lasts for one year and must be renewed annually by a current UW employee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/itconnect.uw.edu\/connect\/productivity-platforms\/provisioning-request-tool\/\">Learn more about provisioning access to Canvas and the responsibilities that go along with provisioning access<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your attention to this policy change.
