If your students all have set up their UW Zoom Pro accounts (free to students), then you can pre-assign Zoom breakout rooms when you schedule the class session.<\/span><\/p>\n

The video tutorial below shows how to pre-assign breakout rooms and how to manage these pre-assigned groups while leading a class session.<\/span><\/p>\n

Steps:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Navigate to the Settings area of the Zoom web portal.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Find the \u201cIn Meeting (Advanced)\u201d settings.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Check the box titled \u201cAllow host to assign participants to breakout rooms when scheduling\u201d below the \u201cBreakout room\u201d toggle.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Create a meeting.<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. Under Meeting Options, find the Breakout room pre-assign option and click it.<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Click \u201cCreate rooms\u201d and use the menu to create breakout rooms and add students to groups.<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Use the \u201cBreakout Rooms\u201d button to launch pre-assigned groups while facilitating a live session.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
