Behavior Coaching Basics

The behavior coaching protocol can help facilitate the implementation of classroom and individual-student strategies for supporting student behavior.

  • Coaches first should make sure the intervention matches the function of problem behavior and is acceptable to the teacher. See the Intervention Guides page about classroom and individual-student strategies.
  • Review the Behavior Coaching Basics videos (listed here, to the right) to learn more about teacher-coach alliance and the coaching cycle. As you implement the coaching cycle, return to the videos to refresh your practice.
  • Use the Behavior Coaching Organizer (PDF download) to guide your coaching practice. It can help guide the fidelity of coaching and support plan implementation.
